Hearing Assessment

A comprehensive hearing assessment determines how well each part of the hearing system is working. Testing takes around half an hour and includes monitoring how well sound travels from the outer to the inner ear, how well you hear pure tones and how well you can hear and understand speech. With this knowledge our clinician can determine if there is a weakness in any part of your hearing system and how best to treat it.

What to Expect During an Assessment

During your hearing assessment you will have headphones placed over your ears and you will be asked to indicate when you think you hear a sound. The clinician may also wish to examine your ears by looking inside them and/or testing the movement of your eardrum. Both of these processes are simple, non invasive and painless.
